Incessant rains, overflowing ponds, lakes and rivers – have taken away more than two hundred human lives and thousands of animals. Lakhs of houses have collapsed, agricultural fields have become marshy and schools are in a dilapidated condition. Life is torn apart. Moments spend without foods, shelter, electricity and communication links are horrid. When these floods have inundated even the holy shrine Mantralaya, what could be the plight of ordinary human beings? Half of the State of Karnataka is badly hit by these floods. A pall of gloom enveloped Deepavali, the festival of lights.

14 districts of North Karnataka received heavy rainfall and more than 260 people have lost their lives due to floods. Thousands of animals have died. More than 4 lakh houses have been washed away.

In these trying times, Seva Bharathi Trust has been relentlessly rendering service to the flood affected victims. It is actively engaged in moving people from flood affected areas to safer places, providing flood, clothing, shelter and emergency care. In Raichur, more than 10000 food packets were distributed. Relief camps were set up in 5 villages of Guledagudda taluk. Food camp was opened in HoleAlur of Gadag District.

Relief camps were set up in Belgaum, Bijapur and surrounding areas of Bagalkote, besides providing emergency care services.

About 60 truck loads of relief material worth more than a crore rupees were distributed to the flood affected victims. However, all these activities provided merely temporary relief in an emergency situation.

Flood affected victims need permanent shelters. Seva Bharathi has initiated the project for construction of quality houses for those people who have lost their houses in the floods. Several individuals and corporations have come forward to sponsor reconstruction of homes through Seva Bharathi. With every one’support, Seva Bharathi has committed to build over 2300 homes for the flood affected victims.

It is estimated that construction of one house may cost about Rs 1.3 lakhs.

All your contributions are eligible for tax exemption under Section 80G provision of the income tax act. We request you to come forward and sponsor construction of house(s) and help the flood affected people in these difficult times.
